Description

In the turbulent year of 1926, amidst the backdrop of colonial Japanese rule in Joseon (modern-day Korea), a poignant tale unfolds—a reimagining of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid." Su-a Heo, a dedicated handmaiden, finds solace in the sea, where the waves carry away her hardships. Her quiet existence shatters when she rescues Uihyeon Kang, a wounded independence fighter washed ashore, igniting a spark of rebellion within her. As she tends to his injuries, tragedy strikes when a botched assassination attempt by his comrade, Haesu Song, robs her of her voice. Driven by vengeance, Su-a embarks on a perilous journey to the capital, Gyeongseong (present-day Seoul), where she becomes entangled in a tapestry of resistance, danger, and unexpected alliances.
